Summer of 2010 and 2012

My how things change in just two years! Here’s all the cute little ones in my life…my nieces and nephews who I adore… If I only could remember all of the hilarious things they say! They keep us very entertained.  Thanks to my mom  for making the kids laugh in this first photo.  Who knew that a Mimi shaking her booty could get such a good laugh… =)

P.S. These were taken at the Frio River in case you were wondering.

Family

After last summers heat, and brown brown brown everything….I have never appreciated green trees and grass so much in my entire life! So happy for the rain we had….it made for some pretty scenery for this family’s session! This little two year old was very active, but he gave us a few seconds of his time ! I love the closeups of him! Thanks so much for coming in Najera family! I enjoyed working with you guys!

Smash head against keyboard to continue….

That’s how I felt after last weeks email issue and this weeks uploading issues…. hours of troubleshooting…..only to realize it was my internet service that was having a problem that they needed to fix. Just a small bump in the road though…and we are back on track! Thank you to my clients for their patience, kindness and for being so understanding!

Now on to a very exciting post! I had the privilege of working with a great team at Ink by Paris Johns,  two beautiful sweet models and an awesome makeup artist!  They all did a great job, and I think all of our hardwork paid off I am loving these two images! This is just the tip of the iceberg though….as soon as we finalize things I will be posting more! Stay tuned!

P.S. Did you get my newsletter on the Cute Kid Contest? If you didn’t and are interested, shoot me an email at steph_photography1@yahoo.com  and I will get you signed up for my newsletter!

Houston we have a problem…..

If you have tried to contact me via my contact page on my website and/or blog….and you haven’t heard back from me….that’s because unfortunately it did not get to me. Looks like we have a malfunction, and it has been turned into my website company…so hopefully it will be resolved soon. Until then, please contact me directly at stephsimpson@grandecom.net! Sorry for any trouble. Thank you!

On my way to Midland today for a session I had to take a picture of these clouds, it was just beautiful! I love the gradation of blues…

And on my way home it got even better! If you were to ask me what my favorite color was….I’d have to say the colors in the sky, this sky in particular! I’m not sure what sort of clouds these are…whatever the case they are masterpieces!

Makes me wanna take a back road……

I jumped out of bed Monday morning at 5 am thinking about …coffee? Nop, surprisingly that was later… but instead about shoes…This really isn’t routine for me (the 5 am part anyways) and well let’s just be honest, when I do have to get up before the crack of dawn, I simply roll out of bed, there’s never any jumping involved.  So back to the shoe part, my first thought this morning was I need boots, maybe even steal toed boots! Do girls even where steal toed boots? I’m not sure.  And this was going to be a problem….being that I have no real boots, much less steal toed anything….. I have tennis shoes (and don’t let those fool you, I don’t play tennis by any means!) Why do I need boots you ask? Weeellll because I was going to the country—and excitedly so! Midkiff Tx to be exact….”where there is no stop sign”…and if you blink I truly think you could miss it. (I’m not making fun of you Midkiff, I LOVE small towns and I love the country!) So on my way down I- 20 I thought this is an opportune time to listen to some good country music ….you know to set the mood.  So I turn the radio up….I don’t know, is it me or does music just sound 10 times better when your driving down the highway and it’s dark? Somewhere inbetween Rankin highway &  CR 300  the song “ Take the back road” comes on, you know the song that says “And it makes me wanna take a back road…Makes me wanna take the long way home” or the best part ….”If I’m gonna hit a traffic jam, Well it better be a tractor man.” If that doesn’t get you in a country mode I don’t know what will.. ha.

So I reach my clients home, and I’m sitting there thinking how peaceful it is out in the country and how nice it would be to live somewhere outside the city….but in the back of my mind lingers..are these tennis shoes really gonna do the job, you know in case we ran into some sort of wild animal….will my toes be safe? ha. Eh, stop being so paranoid, you’ll be fine……
And we were fine…even though we ran into this lovely little baby rattler…no less the very first location we go to. Thankfully the snake seemed to be sleeping, and thankfully we had someone with us that knew what to do (thank you!)….because I calmly looked around and there were no trees to climb, and the only other thing I know to do is to stop… drop… rolll, and well I just don’t think that would have helped! I clearly need to work on that country girl inside of me! But that’s ok, I still love the back roads, and I still love the country …..and I loved this session….it made me want to take the back roads, and take the long way home more often. They truly were the sweetest family….and I enjoyed our adventure all around Midkiff! Here is just a few from the session….
P.S. The flower is a cotton blossom, who knew they were this pretty and pink?

Happy people are the prettiest…

I’ve known this bride since she was a little girl, some of her family I’ve known for what seems like forever and while friends, truly are family of mine. I was so happy when she contacted me to do her bridal session and wedding. It was a treat to photograph such a fun, sweet, happy and graceful person!

P.S. Just a side note, I only do weddings on special occasions, please understand that I like to keep to the portrait world for the most part… But…I love to photograph brides! So if you would like your bridal portrait done….by all means contact me!

Smiley happy faces

“I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose.”  This photo…was my fav from the session. I can’t help but love the candids… I love moments like this when my client starts to forget for a split second that I’m there taking their picture! Have a great weekend everyone!

I’m not clumsy, I just like making spontaneous dance moves.

That quote… well it more applies to a friend of mine (you know who you are and you know it’s true!), but last month it completely applied to me! The first of the month I was walking along minding my own business and bam I fell, and dramatically so, hair and arms flying in the air and all! I don’t know maybe that crack in the sidewalk had it out for me… and yep, I twisted my ankle (ouch!). I’ve never sprang or broke anything….and now well I do have to say I have so much more sympathy for anyone who has done so.  I was stuck  in bed with my leg propped up with ice packs for a few days… and couldn’t walk for a few days. You’d think that I would have taken the opportunity to do nothing and enjoyed it. But the fact that I had to sit there, well made it miserable!  I tried to learn how to use crutches, and that was to say the least… entertaining! You really should have been there! So basically I did alot of waiting…..waiting for the swelling to go down, waiting for the pain to go away,  waiting for something good to come on tv (yeah that one never happened). It healed pretty quick and I’m better now! Not 100% but hey I wore heels sunday (oh heels how I missed you!) so that’s a good sign!  Yay!  I had a rating system by my shoe, first it was no shoe, then it was… hey I think this flip flop fits, then I graduated to the sandal, the small wedge, and finally I think I can wear any shoe again! This is a big deal for a girl, ya know! But the bad news is I got behind on everything in my life, and quite frankly got a little lazy! So I have lots of catching up to do here on the blog and everywhere else! We’ll start off with this handsome…..no…… beautiful little baby boy! He slept the entire session right up to the end…infact the last image of him crying is because he didn’t want to wake up!

West Texas

And we thought we didn’t get anything….but we did! I just love this candid bw of this beautiful family! And let me tell you we had alot of West Texas elements working against us during this session….but we prevailed.  If you have a maginifying glass (ha) or can zoom in (hit the ctrl button and the plus button and you can enlarge your page) take a look at the last picture it was a very well fed diamond back snake (rattlesnake?) that just crossed our path. I’m not much of a tree climber, but I almost was for this session!  I looked up some info on rattlesnakes….and adults average four to five feet in length, but there are occasional “giants” that may reach 7 1/2 feet. (I do believe this one was a giant…of course I also have a very big imagination and tend to lean on the dramatic side) Diet consists primarily of small mammals (ewwww). However, as they reach adult size their diet becomes more generalized and consists of any appropriately sized mammal. Let’s just be thankful he didn’t consider us an appropriately sized mammal!
